Dal Tadka
Yellow lentils finished with an aromatic spiced tempering.

Ingredients
- 250 g yellow lentils (toor or moong dal)
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 15 g fresh ginger
- 200 g crushed tomato
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 700 g water
- 30 g oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro
Step-by-step

- Put the lentils, the teaspoon of turmeric, salt and water in the mixing bowl. Cook 20 min/100°C/reverse/spoon speed. Set aside in a bowl.
- Put the onion, garlic and ginger in the mixing bowl and blend 5 sec/speed 5.
- Add the oil and cumin seeds and toast 3 min/120°C/speed 1.
- Add the tomato and chili and cook 8 min/100°C/speed 1.
- Return the cooked lentils and cook 8 min/100°C/reverse/spoon speed.
- Adjust the salt, garnish with cilantro and serve.
Tips
- The tadka is the final sizzled seasoning that gives it its characteristic flavor.
- A vegan dish, high in protein.
