Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons coriander seeds
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon clove
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg

Step-by-step

Choose your robot:
  1. Put all the whole spices in the mixing bowl.
  2. Toast the spices 4 min/Varoma/speed 1 stirring up the aroma.
  3. Let cool 5 minutes with the mixing bowl open.
  4. Blend 1 min/speed 10 until you get a fine powder.
  5. Pass through a sieve if there are large pieces left.
  6. Store in an airtight opaque jar.

  • Toasting the spices multiplies their aroma.
  • Use the garam masala freshly ground for maximum flavour.
