Brazilian Rice (Arroz Brasileiro)
Loose, aromatic rice sauteed with garlic and onion.

Ingredients
- 300 g long-grain rice
- 1 small onion
- 3 garlic cloves
- 600 ml hot water
- 30 g oil
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt to taste
Step-by-step
Choose your robot:
- Put the onion and garlic in the mixing bowl and chop 4 sec/speed 5.
- Add the oil and saute 5 min/Varoma/spoon speed.
- Add the rice and toss 3 min/Varoma/reverse/spoon speed.
- Add the hot water, bay leaf and salt.
- Place the basket instead of the measuring cup and set 14 min/100°C/reverse/spoon speed.
- Check the rice is done; if needed, add 3 min/100°C/reverse/spoon speed.
- Let rest 5 minutes covered, remove the bay leaf and fluff with a fork.
Tips
- Tossing the rice before boiling keeps it looser.
- Use hot water so you do not interrupt the cooking.
- Serve alongside feijoada or stroganoff.
