Ingredients

  • 500 g strong bread flour
  • 230 g warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 70 g soft butter
  • 50 g sugar
  • 25 g fresh yeast
  • 8 g salt
  • 1 egg for brushing

Step-by-step

Choose your robot:
  1. Put the milk, yeast and sugar in the mixing bowl and set 2 min/37°C/speed 2.
  2. Add the egg, flour, butter and salt and mix 20 sec/speed 6.
  3. Knead 5 min/closed bowl/dough mode.
  4. Let the dough rise in a covered bowl until doubled in volume, about 70 min.
  5. Divide the dough into three strips of the same thickness.
  6. Braid the three strips and seal the ends well.
  7. Place the braid on a tray and let it rise another 40 min.
  8. Brush with beaten egg.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 28 min until golden.
  10. Let cool on a rack.

Tips

  • Sprinkle flaked almonds before baking for a crunchy touch.
  • Do not braid too tightly so it grows well while rising.
