Street-Fair Beef Pastel (Pastel de Feira)
Crispy fried pastry filled with seasoned ground beef.
Ingredients
- 400 g flour
- 1 tablespoon cachaça or vinegar
- 200 ml warm water
- 30 ml oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 400 g ground beef
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 tomatoes
- 50 g green olives
- Oil for frying
- Cilantro, salt and pepper to taste

- Put the flour, salt, oil, cachaça and water in the mixing bowl. Knead 3 min/closed lid/dough mode.
- Remove the dough, wrap in plastic wrap and let rest 30 min.
- Without washing the mixing bowl, chop the onion, garlic and tomato 5 sec/speed 5.
- Sauté with oil 5 min/120°C/speed 1.
- Add the ground beef, salt, pepper and cilantro. Cook 10 min/100°C/reverse/spoon speed.
- Mix in the chopped olives and let the filling cool.
- Roll out the dough thin, cut rectangles, fill, brush the edges with water and seal with a fork.
- Fry in plenty of hot oil until golden and crispy.
Tips
- The cachaça in the dough helps the pastel turn out crispier and bubblier.
- Serve with sugarcane juice or Brazilian lemonade.
