Homemade tahini

Ingredients

  • 300 g sesame seeds
  • 50 g mild olive oil or sunflower oil
  • 1 pinch of salt

Step-by-step

Choose your robot:
  1. Toast the sesame in a pan without oil until lightly golden and let it cool.
  2. Put the seeds in the mixing bowl and blend 30 sec/speed 7.
  3. Scrape down the sides with the spatula.
  4. Add the oil and salt.
  5. Blend 1 min/speed 5-10 until you get a fine, fluid paste.
  6. If it is thick, add a little more oil and mix 20 sec/speed 6.
  7. Pack into a clean jar.

Tips

  • Base for hummus, baba ganoush and sauces.
  • Store in the fridge for up to 1 month; stir if the oil separates.
  • Toasting the sesame enhances its flavor but do not burn it.
