Rice Horchata

Ingredients

  • 200 g of white rice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
  • 1000 g of water
  • Ice and ground cinnamon to serve

Step-by-step

Choose your robot:
  1. Put the rice and the cinnamon in the mixing bowl. Pulverize 30 sec/speed 10.
  2. Add 500 g of water and let the mixture rest for 1 hour so the rice softens.
  3. Blend 1 min/speed 10 until you get a milky liquid.
  4. Strain with a bag or fine strainer and return the liquid to the clean mixing bowl.
  5. Add the remaining 500 g of water, the sugar and the vanilla.
  6. Mix 1 min/speed 4 until the sugar dissolves.
  7. Serve with ice and ground cinnamon sprinkled on top.

Tips

  • For a creamier horchata, add a little milk or plant-based milk.
  • Strain twice if you want it very smooth.
