Ingredients
- 250 g of flour
- 250 g of sugar
- 2 eggs
- 150 ml of sunflower oil
- 200 ml of buttermilk (milk with lemon)
- 20 g of cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- Red gel food coloring
- 300 g of cream cheese
- 100 g of butter
- 150 g of icing sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
Step-by-step
Choose your robot:
- Preheat the oven to 175C.
- Add the eggs, the sugar and the oil and beat 2 min/speed 4.
- Add the buttermilk and the red food coloring and mix 30 sec/speed 3.
- Add the flour, the cocoa, the baking soda and the salt and mix 25 sec/speed 3.
- Divide the batter into two lined round molds.
- Bake 30 min at 175C and check with a toothpick.
- For the frosting beat the cream cheese, the butter and the icing sugar 40 sec/speed 4.
- Let the sponges cool and fill them with frosting.
- Cover the whole cake and refrigerate 1 hour before serving.
Tips
- Gel coloring tints better than liquid.
- Buttermilk is made by adding a tablespoon of lemon to the milk.
- Keep it cold because of the cheese frosting.
