Homemade Dulce de Leche
Creamy dulce de leche made with milk and sugar over low heat.

Ingredients
- 1 liter of whole milk
- 300 g of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of baking soda
- 1 pinch of salt
Step-by-step
Choose your robot:
- Place the milk, the sugar, the vanilla, the salt and the baking soda in the mixing bowl.
- Mix 30 sec/speed 3 to dissolve the sugar.
- Place the basket on the lid instead of the measuring cup so it evaporates.
- Set the dulce de leche 35 min/100 degC/speed 2.
- Continue cooking 25 min/Varoma/speed 2 until it takes on a caramel color and thickens.
- Check the point: it should coat the spoon and darken evenly.
- Pour into a sterilized jar and let it cool; it will thicken more as it cools.
- Keep in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
Tips
- The baking soda helps with the color and creaminess.
- Do not overcook it or it will crystallize and become very hard.
- Stir if you see it sticking to the bottom during the last stretch.
